Year One Wrap-Up

As I start 2016, I wanted to reflect a bit on Talavant’s first year and how happy I am with where we are headed.

Talavant officially launched on 1/1/2015 (maybe the website was a couple days behind). The company was founded by Rob Long and myself and we were the first two employees (plus some much needed help from Lacey Long).

When we launched, Rob and I were still working on old projects. We were working from home and meeting frequently to discuss where things were going to go. We found a 600 square foot office space at the end of January and were extremely excited to move in. Before there was even furniture, I was in there with my monitors and a card table.

As Rob and I continued to deliver on projects we quickly realized we needed some help generating interest in our new business. We were fortunate to find Molly Siegel and add some much needed sales and marketing skills.

As the year continued, we added Ross Parks and Jess Rabida to the team to add some additional technical depth. The empty office space wasn’t so empty anymore.

We ended the year with 10 clients, 27 projects, 5 full-time employees, a number of speaking engagements and tons of introductions. It was a fantastic first year and we are extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished. In early January 2016 we will welcome Gill Rowley to the team and get ready to move into some fantastic office space (pictures at a later date).

As we wrapped up 2015 with an all company retreat, we set 3 major focus areas for 2016.

We believe these are core components for the health and growth of our business this year. We want people to know who we are, what we can do and make sure that we do it well.

Thank you for checking us out and giving us an opportunity to deliver our services. We truly appreciate it and look forward to another great year.
